Chinese Tencent links up with HK Emperor Group

On May 18, HK based Emperor Entertainment Group and Chinese online & mobile group Tencent jointly announced a strategic partnership.  Tencent has thus become Emperor Group’s first strategic partner in the new media area. This cooperation is focused on music and artist, one of the 2 major activities of Emperor, together with film entertainment.

“King, the Emperor Entertainment Group’ music and artist subsidiary has agreed to have Tencent help market its artists and products through various platforms”, the two jointly announced. EEG’s artists will use Tencent’s Twitter-like microblogging service to release exclusive music content. Emeperor’s artists and their content will be able to capitalize on Tencent’s internet and mobile-based operations experience and its huge online community – 500 million active accounts for QQ and more than 160 million registered accounts for QQ microblog service. This alliance will allow web and mobile users to interact with artists, watch music video, listen to music and even buy products

“With the rapid development of entertainment in the Internet industry, information, entertainment and interaction is required to meet the audience. King’s top artists have, high quality music and other content. 

The combination of hundreds of millions of Internet users will create an unprecedented entertainment feast. It will be a cross-industry win-win cooperation and a great new experience for the fans.” explained the two new partners.

King’s current artists line ups includes Joey Yung, Leo Ku, Twins, William Chan, Ken Hung and Sherman Chung.
